St.Stephen's School

Class 5EH

Hello, and welcome to 5EH. Our teacher is Elin Harding and we can be found in Room 17. Year 5 marks our transition into Upper Key Stage 2, which means there are higher expectations to ensure we are independent and responsible. Although the work will be much more challenging, we are excited to work hard and show the right attitude to help us achieve our goals.

This year we will be studying many interesting subjects. In Geography, we will be learning about the seven continents of the world, and in History we will be studying Mayan History and World War II. We will also be learning to play the flute with the help of ECAM.

Alongside these, we will be further improving our English and Maths. Using the basic skills we have previously learnt, such as grammar, punctuation, spelling and timetables we will learn how to apply these to improve our writing and challenge ourselves in Maths. We will also be reading our in-class read aloud book daily, and will choose books from the book corner to bring home every night to ensure we get enough practice on our reading skills.

This year, we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to go on a residential trip to Fairplay House. On this trip, we will be doing lots of exciting activities such as climbing the high ropes and exploring caves. This trip will also support us in improving our independence. We are extremely excited about this trip, and the other trips we will experience during the year.

5EH Class Charter

Each class at St. Stephen’s Primary School will complete a class charter, outlining agreements for members of the class and duty bearers (adults). All pupils are entitled to receive their rights. This class charter will form the basis of a display in class, be displayed on the class website page and also be used for class disciplinary matters.
